*Cookie Couture Creates Bespoke Bakes for Book Launch of The Silver Shadow*
On 30th April 2025, we were thrilled and honoured to be invited by author Mariesa Dulak to contribute something extra special to the launch of her beautiful new children’s book, The Silver Shadow, hosted at Nomad Books in Parsons Green.
This lyrical and visually captivating hardback, brought to life by the stunning illustrations of Alea Marley, tells the story of a young girl exploring a magical world under the sea — a world full of colour, imagination, and gentle wonder.
To celebrate this literary debut, we created a bespoke collection of hand-iced cookies and macarons inspired by the book’s dreamy palette and heartfelt story. Most notably, we recreated the story’s unnamed main character — a soulful child with a glorious head of curls — as an iced cookie, paying homage to the powerful simplicity of a story told in the first person.
Alongside our character cookies, we crafted ocean-inspired designs — hand iced sharks, playful sea scenes, rainbow coral, and the book front cover on an easel — each one capturing the enchantment of the underwater scenes that swirl across the pages of The Silver Shadow.
It was a joy to see our cookies nestled among books, delighting guests, amongst them fellow authors and literary reviewers. As ever, we believe that storytelling and baking share a magical common thread: both can transport us, comfort us, and bring joy.
